Okay, I just can’t with Paula anymore, you guys.

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed Season 1 Episode 5 put our protagonist in yet another deadly scenario, and she continues to build a case against herself.

Her plan to go after Sky for answers made sense on paper, but what exactly did she expect to happen?

She already knew Trevor was part of a ring of camboys who were scamming vulnerable people out of money.

If Trevor was butchered and the killer is still out there, why would she willingly get in the same room as someone who could have been involved?

Paula is the definition of acting first and thinking later, and it’s getting harder and harder to root for her.

I understand that she doesn’t want to sit around while detectives build what looks like an ironclad case against her, but she’s constantly putting herself and those around her in danger.

Taking Geri and Rudy to the meeting was smart, but it also put both of them directly in harm’s way.

Honestly, the safest way to handle the meeting would have been to do it digitally. At least then she could have recorded everything and kept some distance between herself and the people she suspects are connected to Trevor’s murder.

Instead, Paula had a gun pointed at her and was used as collateral by Ash and Sky to squeeze money out of Dennis.

The only real positive to come from the meeting was learning that Sky was the person who tackled Trevor on camera.

Beyond that, Paula now knows Dennis is the man wearing the boots, which should finally help her get some answers.

Her quick thinking with the nail gun got her out of a deadly situation, but Sky wasn’t nearly as lucky.

Dennis is always multiple steps ahead of everyone else, even when he’s being sent on sidequests by whoever is really pulling the strings.

Sky’s admission that Dennis was fine with Trevor’s scams until someone close to him got caught up in them was particularly interesting.

Throughout Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed Season 1, I’ve been wondering why Dennis could play the role of Trevor’s devoted boyfriend only to kill him a few scenes later.

Something had to change.

My guess is that Trevor scammed someone close to Dennis, or someone connected to the people Dennis answers to.

Thanks to Paula using the nail gun, Sky was left behind for Dennis to deal with, and it seems like every time someone gets scammed on this show, a dead body isn’t far behind.

The problem for Paula is that she never thinks about the aftermath. She used the nail gun and then just left.

Sure, she could have been shot if she’d stuck around, but her DNA is all over that building, and now Sky’s body has been left there too.

I suspect that Paula will take everything she’s learned to the detectives, they’ll investigate, and somehow she’ll end up getting arrested for murder.

They already know she’s chaotic, but do they really believe she’d lead them directly to two corpses? I genuinely don’t know.

What definitely doesn’t help is her stealing Sky’s chain, pawning it, and then using the money to buy a gun.

Every bit of that can be tracked, and she’s leaving a trail of evidence that makes her look worse by the day.

Dennis probably knew exactly what he was doing. He knew Paula had been in the apartment. He knew she’d already led the police to Trevor’s place.

Is There a Path Forward for Paula?

If she gets arrested for the murders, all the attention shifts away from him. That’s assuming Ash even makes it out of this situation alive because I really don’t like her chances after threatening Dennis.

One thing that could still come back to haunt Dennis is the $10,000 transfer.

The detectives seemed encouraged by what they uncovered on the financial side of the investigation, and that may end up being what saves Paula.

Because she desperately needs something to go her way.

The physical and emotional toll this situation has taken on her is obvious, and now she’s scrambling to find money for a lawyer on top of everything else.

But if her solution is turning to crime to raise the cash, she’s fighting a losing battle. Her best move would have been to tell Karl everything. And I mean everything.

If Hazel’s future is potentially at risk, Karl would be far more willing to listen than Paula seems to realize.

Right now, he’s being fed information on a need-to-know basis, and that’s clearly not working.

I understand why Paula is terrified of Hazel being sent to Idaho, but wouldn’t that be better than constantly worrying about whether a killer is about to show up at your door?

Which brings me to Mallory.

I’m not surprised by what she did with the documents, but this has the potential to blow up spectacularly.

Karl’s loyalty to her has been unwavering, but if that trust starts to crack, I think he’ll be forced to take a much closer look at their relationship.

And honestly, I can’t even imagine the emotional turmoil she’s dealing with after the attack on Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed Season 1 Episode 3. But this isn’t the way to handle it.

That’s all I’ve got, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed Fanatics!
