Film News

Paramount on Thursday at CinemaCon unveiled the first footage from Heart of the Beast, its action-adventure film reuniting Brad Pitt with director David Ayer, on which we were first to report last March.

Heart of the Beast centers on a former Army Special Forces soldier (Pitt) and his retired combat dog who battle for survival after a plane crash deep in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness.

The footage shown in Las Vegas sees Pitt’s soldier fending off bears, wolves and more on “one last mission” for survival alongside his loyal dog companion.

Paramount confirmed today that the film will release this fall, though no release date was disclosed.

Written by Cameron Alexander, who exec produced, Heart of the Beast also stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe and is produced by Olivia Hamilton, Marty Bowen, Ayer, and Pitt. Exec producers included Damien Chazelle, Scott Lumpkin, Alexander, Chris Long, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, Sophie Cassidy, and Zack Conroy.

The project reunited Pitt and Ayer for the first time since Fury, their 2014 Sony drama starring Pitt as a battle-hardened U.S. Army sergeant leading a five-man Sherman tank crew on a dangerous mission behind enemy lines in the final days of World War II.
