Pitchfork is hosting a panel next week about jazz artists pushing the genre forward, in conjunction with the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. The livestreamed conversation will feature Cécile McLorin Salvant, Samora Pinderhughes, and Jen Shyu, with Pitchfork staff writer Allison Hussey moderating. It happens on Tuesday, May 24, at 7 p.m. Eastern. Tune in live via Pitchfork’s homepage or on YouTube.

Earlier this year, Salvant released Ghost Song, her first LP since winning a Doris Duke Artist Award and being named a MacArthur Foundation Fellow in 2020. Pinderhughes’ latest album is April’s Grief, which he launched with a “Tiny Desk (Home) Concert” in his ongoing exhibition The Healing Project (at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts); he also shared the short film for “Masculinity.” Shyu most recently issued Zero Grasses: Ritual for the Losses with her Jade Tongue ensemble, last spring.
