‘The Holdovers’ Hits Peacock Over The Holidays

Alexander Payne’s 3x Golden Globe nominated, 8x Critics Choice nominated dramedy The Holdovers will stream on Peacock on Friday, Dec. 29.

By the time the movie hits the streaming service it will have been in theaters exclusively for 64 days. The pic has grossed to date $17.4M at the domestic box office.

The movie which reteams Payne with his Sideways star Paul Giamatti follows the latter as Massachusetts prep school teacher Paul Hunham whose left with a handful of misfit students over the Christmas break; the boys marooned by their parents. Eventually Paul forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph). David Hemingson wrote the screenplay; the movie which counts 96% certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Holdovers is up for Best Comedy/Musical Feature, Best Comedy/Feature Musical Actor Giamatti, and Supporting Actress for Da’Vine Joy Randolph at the Golden Globes.

At Critics Choice, Holdovers counts noms for Best Picture, Best Comedy Feature, Best Acting Ensemble, Original Screenplay, Best Director, Supporting Actress Joy Randolph, Actor Giamatti, and Best Young Actor/Actress for Dominic Sessa.
