The Hunting Party ended its first season with many cliffhangers, including leaving Oliver Odell’s life hanging in the balance.
The strategy successfully secured a Season 2 renewal for The Hunting Party, along with additional episodes.
However, since then, filming moved from Vancouver to New York, delaying the premiere until midseason. No one has spotted Nick Wechsler (Oliver) filming any scenes yet.

Now, the series could be working hard to keep his scenes under wraps because they don’t want to reveal whether he survived or not.
It’s also possible that Wechsler did not want to relocate to New York, and in that case, how would The Hunting Party change if Oliver Odell were truly dead?
After That Heartbreaking Confession, Oliver and Bex Deserved Their Chance
There is nothing I hate more than ending on a cliffhanger and not following through with it.
Bex tearfully confessed that she still loved Oliver when she thought he might die in The Hunting Party Season 1 finale.

It’s no secret that I adore angsty couples, so that confession endeared Bex and Oliver even more to me.
I’d love for Oliver to have a near-death vision of him, Bex, and Sam that mirrored the one Bex had when Dr. Malek kidnapped her.
I’m holding out hope that The Hunting Party is keeping Nick Wechsler‘s filming status quiet because, after all, Bex and Oliver went through, he should return.
Bex would have had an easier time getting over Oliver if they had remained estranged, but their relationship evolved so much over the course of last season.
If Bex Loses Someone Else She Loves, Will She Turn Darker for Vengeance?
Bex Henderson is the light of the team, but if she loses any more people she cares about to these serial killers, could she turn to the dark side and crave vengeance?

It’s an interesting theory. Bex was angry at Oliver for years for killing a man who nearly hurt her and Sam, yet could she go down a similar path if she lost him right after she confessed that she still loved him?
So many of the serial killers taunted Bex about her relationship with Oliver and how she solved crimes. This could cause her to snap, even if only momentarily.
We’ve all wanted to see Melissa Roxburgh delve into even deeper material, and this could give Bex some layered performances as the series explores not only this loss but also the first time Bex lost someone she loved, her best friend years ago.
She’s versed in profiling, but it’s time to dig deeper. Let her go off the rails a bit and then catch the culprits.
If Oliver is Gone, Will That Clear the Path for Bex and Shane?
If Oliver is gone, the love triangle ends, clearing the path for Bex and Shane, but would that be an honest decision or a hollow victory?

No man wants to be second choice, and unless the series does a massive time jump, Bex will need time to grieve.
There is a fine line between wanting it to look genuine and having her grieve too long. Hassani and Shane are Bex’s family, so she’ll likely turn to them as she processes things.
One of the most common tropes is the idea of coming together during grief, and I could see Shane holding Bex comfortingly, which evolved into something more.
Even Melissa Roxburgh has called Shane Bex’s safe spot, so that could be what turns the tide.
Who Will Lead the Base and Be the Go-Between With Col. Lazarus?
We will assume that the team will reassemble, even if AG Mallory dismantled the team in The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 10. Otherwise, there would not be a series.

Oliver would be needed to run home base, or they would need to bring in someone new.
While we’ve seen some other photos of actors on base, there is no confirmation that they are the new base leader.
Even if they are, they likely won’t have the history that Oliver shared with Col. Lazarus, since she recruited him to help him cope after he was dismissed from the agency for killing that man.
While she may have needed someone with grey tendencies, I suspect she also cared about him.
If she has to replace Oliver, where will she find the next leader? Does she have a pool of men with grey morals?
Will We Learn About the Other Silos?
Oliver was the one who had gained access to the map of all the silos in The Hunting Party Season 1. When he shared that information with Bex, it was the first step that he had taken to show his transformation.

He, Bex, and Hassani discovered the central hub was Silo 12, where James Whitmore experimented on prisoners. It looked like a bloody massacre there.
While the three of them made some progress, we thought that The Hunting Party Season 2’s mystery would involve expanding on the Pit’s actual mission and finding the rest of the Silos.
I suspect both Col. Lazarus and AG Mallory were involved, but we’re still unsure if they were actually trying to reform these serial killers or if they had a secret mission for them.
Oliver had an in with these women and was able to gather knowledge and pass it on to the team so that they could solve these mysteries.
As we’ve noted, Oliver Odell is a vital part of the team and in Bex’s life. We would hate for him actually to be dead.

Losing a cast member this early can significantly alter the canvas.
