With only three Broadway productions selling out last week, total grosses for the 29 shows was down about 7% from the previous week, settling in at $25,296,948. Total attendance was 226,267 for the week ending September 22, a slip of about 4% from the previous week.

The sell-outs, as usual, were Oh, Mary! (grossing $1,161,728, another house record at the Lyceum); The Outsiders ($1,320,127); and McNeal, starring Robert Downey Jr. in his Broadway debut ($1,207,420). Stereophonic came close with attendance at 99% of capacity ($837,441).

Mia Farrow was back at the Booth after a week out due to Covid, resuming her place opposite Patti LuPone in The Roommate. Attendance was at 85% of capacity ($528,937).

Also of note: Adam Lambert and Auli’I Cravalho began their star turns in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, taking over from original cast members Eddie Redmayne and Gayle Rankin. A $640,719 drop in grosses (to $1,033,318) can be at least partially attributed to significant press tickets and other comps for the week.

Newcomer Our Town, featuring a large cast including Jim Parsons, Katie Holmes, Zoey Deutch and Richard Thomas, began previews at the Barrymore, filling 85% of seats and taking $590,662 for 7 performances. Opening night is October 10.

Also in previews: The Hills of California, filling 75% of seats at the Broadhurst, grossing $535,527 (opening September 29); and Roundabout’s Yellow Face, with seven previews, filled 91% of seats at the Todd Haimes for a gross of $256,530 (opening October 1).

Season to date, Broadway, in the 18th week of the 2024-25 season, has grossed $559,571,162 up about 8% over last year at this time, with total attendance of 4,506,548 up about 5%.
