Eyebrow-raiser: Blade v Wolverine
So, as a Xennial, I’m always proud of any news that revolves around my generation or childhood — I just learned that Wesley Snipes has set the Guinness World Record for the longest career as a Marvel character. Blade beat Wolverine!
If that’s not an eyebrow-raiser, I don’t know what is.
And no, I’m not spoiling Deadpool x Wolverine. I about did cartwheels when I saw Blade’s cameo in DP, but knowing he’s coming back with a new movie has this ’80s gal doing the butterfly in the living room.
Someone put an ambulance on standby in case I break a hip. But Snipes didn’t break only one record. He broke two with the same bad mamma jamma.
He also clinched the record for the longest gap between appearances (2004 with Blade: Trinity until DP 2024). I don’t know who else is a Blade fanatic, but I adored Trinity strictly because Ryan Reynolds was on staff.
However, Jessica Biel wasn’t bad on there either. The great Kristoffersen/Snipes duo made the franchise legendary from the start. Excuse me while I go binge. [Sara Trimble]
Eyebrow-raising Deadpool & Wolverine Cameos
I’m interested in how many cameos people notice in the Deadpool movie.
I totally missed the Henry Cavill cameo. There were a lot of Wolverines to notice. Cavill is the new Superman, so seeing him as the man with the claws was interesting, too.

Snoop’s Eyebrow-raising Olympics Wardrobe
Is anyone else watching the Olympics? I’ve been obsessed with Snoop Dogg’s commentary, especially his outfits.
At this point, I’m curious about his Olympics wardrobe budget cause that man has been fly this whole time. It’s crazy that he and Flavor Flav are the most wholesome male figures of the time.
There was once a time when their reputations weren’t so squeaky. It’s interesting how the public perception has shifted so much for such hip-hop stars since they’ve been on TV.
Flavor Flav was on a reality show years back, and he just sponsored a women’s team for all expenses for the Olympics. Snoop partnered with Martha Stewart and had his own show. Now, he’s carried the torch and is a national icon. My inner ’90s girl is loving it. [Sara Trimble]
The Behind-the-Scenes Messiness of It Ends with Us
I need someone to explain it to me like I’m in kindergarten, and it’s the first day: what is going on with the “It Ends With Us” press tour drama? It sounds so messy.
Admittedly, it’s not my jam for many reasons. The gist of it, as I understand, is that Justin Baldoni wanted to direct and adapt this Colleen Hoover bestseller into a film.
It’s about domestic abuse, but Blake Lively is starring in it, and there’s a rumor that she and Ryan Reynolds have basically taken over. I don’t know.
All I know is that it’s a special kind of twisted and messed up that Justin is clearly promoting the film (oddly enough by himself away from the cast and others) as a film that spreads awareness about domestic abuse, which is commendable.
The marketing team is definitely playing into it as a romcom a la “You” when it was initially on Lifetime.
And Blake Lively is out here promoting it with Ryan Reynolds like the It Ends With Us/Deadpool & Wolverine version of Barbieheimer??
If this was a marketing ploy to get people talking, it’s working. But also, at what cost? [Jasmine Blu]
On Board for Rebel Ridge
As a lover of action films, I won’t even pretend I didn’t plan to watch Rebel Ridge as soon as I read the synopsis.
But if I weren’t already sold by Aaron Pierre’s hazel eyes and the Reacher/Walking Tall/Equalizer vibes, they clenched it with a single quote with perfect execution and delivery from the trailer.

Naysayer Backtalk
I haven’t been watching the Olympics, and I haven’t seen Deadpool and Wolverine. It turns out I’m not into sports or Marvel, although I have seen the first two Deadpool movies. A movie dedicated to Easter Eggs wouldn’t do me much good.
I also haven’t read Hoover’s best-selling book and have no intention of seeing It Ends with Us. My sister and I saw the trailer for it and couldn’t believe anybody would want to see something that looked so depressing right out of the gate.
How on earth can a movie about abuse become a hit? It’s kind of gross. Sorry, not sorry.
And Jasmine? You’re right about Aaron Pierre being easy on the eyes, but Rebel Ridge looks like another in a long line of Netflix “action” movies that don’t bother with a plot.
