For the second year in a row, Philadelphia’s Made in America Festival has been canceled. The event organizers revealed the news in a statement today, but did not provide a specific reason for the cancellation. Instead, the festival’s production team said it “is reimagining a live music experience that affirms our love and dedication to music and the work we do.” Find the full statement below.
Last year’s festival was canceled due to “severe circumstances outside of production control,” as Made in America put it at the time. SZA and Lizzo were meant to headline the 2023 event, which was scheduled for September 2-3. The cancelation occurred after Lizzo was hit with a lawsuit from former dancers alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment.
Lizzo has denied all allegations. In the fall of 2023, she was sued by a former tour manager over working conditions. She subsequently filed a formal denial in response to the lawsuit brought about by her former dancers.
