Anitta has revealed the release date for her long-teased album Funk Generation. The new album is out April 26 (via Republic Records and Universal Music Latin Entertainment). The Brazilian pop star has also shared the new song âDouble Team,â featuring Brray and Bad Gyal. Watch the video for the single below.
âFunk Generation is an album where I celebrate my roots,â Anitta said in a press statement. âItâs where I express the power of [Rio de Janeiroâs] funk in every track its unique, danceable, and sensual beats. Itâs a rhythm born in the favelas, where I grew up, and it exudes resistance and art in every community. Iâm proud to work on a project about a genre that has been unfairly stigmatized in Brazil but is slowly gaining recognition worldwide. In the album, I bring in important collaborations that helped me tell this story. Iâve been involved in every step of the production and visual direction, and Iâve achieved the result Iâve been aiming for.â
Anitta began teasing her new album last year when she released Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story. She followed the three-track release with the singles âMil Vecesâ and âJoga pra Lua.â
Funk Generation will be Anittaâs first studio album for Republic Records. She signed with the label after a high-profile split from Warner, the label that released her previous album, 2022âs Versions of Me.
