The Smashing Pumpkins have put out a call for a new guitarist on Instagram. “The Smashing Pumpkins are in search of an additional guitarist,” the note, which includes an email (SPGuitar@redlightmanagement.com) to which applicants can send résumés and related materials, reads in part. “The application process is open to anyone who may be interested.”

The open call follows the departure of former band member Jeff Schroeder, who left the Smashing Pumpkins last October after 15 years in the band. “Although it was a very difficult decision to make, I’ve decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a slightly different path,” the guitarist, who joined the Smashing Pumpkins in the mid-2000s, said in a statement at the time. “I wish the band all the success in the future. I will be watching and listening.” In a jointly released statement, the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha wrote, “We thank Jeff for his ceaseless dedication to the band and our great fans. Words can not express our gratitude and appreciation for the friend he is, and being there for SP in the good times and the tough times, too.”

Starting this summer, the Smashing Pumpkins will open for Green Day on their Saviors Tour of North America.
