Watch Maxwell Cover Michael Jackson’s “The Lady in My Life” at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards

A tribute to the 40th anniversary of Thriller

Maxwell was among the performers at the Billboard Music Awards tonight. As a tribute to the 40th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, he sang “The Lady in My Life.” He ended the performance by saying, “We love you, Michael Jackson.” Watch it happen below.

Maxwell’s last studio album was 2016’s blackSUMMERS’night. In 2018, the singer-songwriter announced his next LP blacksummers’NIGHT, saying it would arrive the following year. Three years later, Maxwell assures fans that the long-awaited record will drop this spring. Maxwell recently wrapped up a headline tour of America.

Also in 2018, Maxwell reissued his pivotal sophomore LP, 1998’s Embrya. Last year, he shared his latest single “Off,” marking his first new track in three years.
