So much for Sophia being alive, at least for now.
Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 5-25-26 promise that Amy Choi will be devastated by what is found in the river, which can only mean one thing: Sophia’s body.
Of course, this will lead to more ridiculous lashing out at Holly, but it’s still heartbreaking for Sophia’s mother, and it comes during the same week that Marlena mourns the anniversary of John’s death.

Sophia’s Story Would Be Stronger If It Were An Actual Suicide
As someone who worked in suicide prevention for years, I feel that this story doesn’t do the topic justice. Yes, Sophia left a suicide note, and everyone who knew her is left wondering why they didn’t see the signs, but the note was fake.
Sophia never planned to die — she wanted everyone to think she was dead so she could run away. Arguably, that’s a significant mental health issue too, but it wasn’t treated as such, and in any case, Kristen killed her.
As a story about the way suicide affects those left behind, this is a massive failure because of the lie at the base of the story, making it yet another example of Days of Our Lives not taking mental health issues as seriously as it should.
Amy Choi isn’t helping anything, either, and on Days of Our Lives during the week of 5-25-26, she will demand that Holly be charged with manslaughter.

Cyberbullying among teenagers, especially when it is so cruel that it leads someone to consider or complete suicide, is a serious issue, but Holly’s actions don’t qualify.
Sophia created a fake account and asked why everyone at Salem U hated her. She then became despondent when she got one message after another suggesting she was bad news, but also admitted to Kristen that she did it because she was hoping that Holly’s response would get Holly into trouble.
That plan seems to have worked so far, but it shouldn’t. If Sophia asked for negative posts about herself, and Holly was far from the only person who made one, how does that make Holly responsible for Sophia’s death?
If Days of Our Lives wanted to do a story about how destructive cyberbullying can be, it should have done one.
This is fake cyberbullying for the sake of drama, just like the suicide is not a real suicide, dampening the effect of the story’s message.

The Biggest Surprise Is That Sophia Isn’t Alive (For Now)
Days of Our Lives is famous for bringing people back from the dead, especially those who disappear into the river.
Sophia’s story is so similar to Nick’s that I fully expected her to show up alive at her memorial, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Oddly, Philip comes to the memorial in his military uniform. He didn’t have anything to do with Sophia as far as I can recall, although he does have a history of pretending to have been thrown into the river to frame Brady.
The teens will likely all be there as well, giving Amy the ability to lash out at them again — will her husband also attend his own daughter’s memorial?

I also wonder if Kristen will dare show her face, considering she is the reason Sophia is dead. By the way, shouldn’t there also be evidence that Sophia was hit in the back of the head with a rock?
The police found that rock with Sophia’s blood on it — don’t they want to know how that happened if she jumped into the river?
I still say that Sophia showing up alive at this memorial would be a great cliffhanger, but Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 5-25-26 don’t point to anything like that happening.
Meanwhile, Chanel Gets Her Biopsy Results
Although the spoiler video suggests that Chanel will get bad news, Sarah’s message is ambiguous, and I would not be surprised if Chanel is cancer-free.
Maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part, but Chanel getting good news would be a welcome twist and a relief not only for Chanel and Johnny, but for Lani and Paulina (not that Paulina knows anything yet).
Paulina dealing with the Lexie nonsense and Chanel’s potential cancer at the same time feels like too much.
Besides, one of the later Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 5-25-26 says that Johnny and Chanel share a hopeful moment, and Sarah telling them that Chanel is cancer-free fits perfectly.

Either way, I’d rather Sarah have medical storylines than any more relationship nonsense.
Unlike many fans, I love Sarah and Brady as a couple, but they’ve been written badly and are so clearly a stopgap until Sarah returns to Xander that there’s no point in getting invested in them.

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 5-25-26 say that Sarah and Xander will acknowledge hard truths now that they’re living in the same house (which Brady conveniently moved out of recently).
Fortunately, there’s a lot more for Sarah to do than go around in circles with Xander, who is currently sleeping with both Gwen and Kristen.
Sarah will need to give Holly emotional support this week, while Brady is busy worrying about why Stefano’s chess set is missing a pawn and Marlena mourns the anniversary of John’s death.
This chess set of Stefano’s seems like it’s leading to a big story for Marlena, and I wish it wouldn’t. I don’t enjoy Marlena as a damsel in distress, especially when it comes to the DiMeras — I’d rather have realistic stories of her as a therapist and widow moving on with her life.
However, Marlena may not be the only widow moving on, as Foster returns and asks Julie out for dinner. I’m curious about where this will go, especially since Julie is still loyal to the man she was married to for 50 years.
