The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 6’s Devilish Murder-Mystery Bonds the Team

Television News

Vikram has been struggling with being transported 200 years into the future, but he’s devoted to the well-being of his entire team.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 6 was the best episode of the spinoff to date, thanks to its murder-mystery set-up that left Vikram scrambling to locate his team.

It’s been evident that Vikram has been laser-focused on keeping everyone under his purview safe, and he took that literally by sacrificing his life for the greater good.

Is there a better leader than someone willing to put their own life on the line? I don’t think so, but the series is doing a great job of sending these moral questions to viewers.

Vikram knows that his arrival in the present has disrupted the lives of Lysa, Connor, and Charlie, and his episode-ending reaction that they’re trapped here, and correlating it to the Librarian stuck in the Devil’s prison highlights as much.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter Has a Solid Team

What he doesn’t understand is that everything happens for a reason, and I dare say that Lysa, Connor, and Charlie are learning way more from him than they would have had he not crash-landed in 2025.

Look at Charlie, for example. She was on the shelf, so to speak, and was destined never to get another chance of being a Guardian.

Where would she be if Jacob had never given the new team the green light to go ahead? If anything, she’s getting another chance at doing something she never thought was possible.

Connor is a bit more of a wild card in terms of where he would be because there’s a lack of information about his backstory so far.

Perhaps that’s intentional, and we’ll get a Connor-centric installment before the end of The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1.

He’s proven to be an asset to the team, but I’m convinced he has trust issues after Princess Lucille played him like a fiddle.

Looking back on the case overall, Lucille being the villain shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise.

She played her hand too quickly and could have gotten her way had she managed to stay undetected for a little bit longer.

The Devil Was in the Details

Having a house to protect the outside world from the Devil was an inspired choice, and something tells me that Lucille will materialize further into the series’ run.

She will be stronger and be more aware of how far Vikram and his team are willing to go to keep her locked up, which she could use to her advantage.

As for Lysa, it’s clear that she’s learning a lot more about the world than she would if she weren’t a part of The Library.

She’s a curious individual and has a lot of skin in the game, so to speak. Her argument with Vikram was fascinating because it was the first time that things were poised to go pear-shaped for the pair.

It must be hard for Vikram to be on the outs with Lysa because of her connection to his deceased lover from 200 years ago.

Now that we’re halfway through the season, The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 needs to start paying off the storylines set up on The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 1.

By this point, we should be delving into Gregor and his master plan for Vikram. There is a significant lack of context about the 1800s, which hinders our understanding of why they were so divided against each other.

A flashback episode telling us everything should be on the way. Vikram needs to confront the past to secure the future, and he’s not going to be able to do that without facing off with Gregor.

We Need More Gregor

Vikram is introspective, as evidenced by the way he continually comes to conclusions about himself and his team when no one is paying attention to him.

Despite his desire to return to the 1800s, there will probably come a point at which he realizes he’s better off in the 21st century as long as the magic is doing its rounds in Europe.

There’s an element of ambiguity regarding what he would do if he were given the opportunity because, without him, there’s no team.

My best guess is that the back half of the season will zero in on his desire to let Connor, Charlie, and Lysa move on with their lives.

There’s a reason why this group came together and is solving these time-hopping mysteries, and until Vikram realizes that, he’ll be holding on to this deeply-rooted resentment.
