News, Television News

Hulu viewers will not see The Devil in the White City on the streaming service after all. Plans for the limited series have been cancelled, per Deadline.

Based on the book by Erik Larson, the story is set in 1893 Chicago and tells the true tale of the conflict between two brilliant men — Daniel H. Burnham, the brilliant architect behind the legendary 1893 World’s Fair, and Dr. H. H. Holmes, the infamous serial killer who used the fair to lure victims to their death.

Leonardo DiCaprio bought the rights to the book to make a movie with Martin Scorcese in 2010. In 2019, the project became a limited series. It was ordered to series in August of last year with Keanu Reeves set to star. The eight-episode series was expected to premiere in 2024.

Reeves left the project in October. Todd Fields, hired to direct The Devil in the White City for Hulu, departed shortly after Reeves. Efforts to replace both of them have been unsuccessful.

ABC Signature is hoping to find another outlet for the series.

What do you think? Do you hope The Devil in the White City series still makes it to the small screen?
