“Squidbillies” is closing out its 12th season on September 15 with two new episodes on Adult Swim. The first episode airs at midnight Eastern, and it opens with Shooter Jennings’ rendition of the theme. The “Squidbillies” theme song, written and originally performed by outlaw country musician Billy Joe Shaver, has been performed by numerous musicians over the show’s 12-season run. This season’s lineup has featured covers from the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, John Hiatt, and others. Previous performers include Neko Case, Lambchop, Sharon Van Etten, Band of Horses, Father John Misty, Ty Segall, Bob Mould, Against Me!, Kurt Vile, and Stephen Malkmus. Themes by Clutch and John Hiatt are set to air September 8.
