Ziva David Is ‘Freakin’ Alive’ in This NCIS Season 17 Trailer

Cote De Pablo, NCIS, Television News

It’s finally here! The first trailer for NCIS Season 17, featuring the return of Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), has officially dropped, and holy cow, there’s a lot to digest.

Like most viewers, the NCIS team — even Gibbs (Mark Harmon) — spent the last four years believing Ziva David was dead, but they were all wrong. This new trailer doesn’t go so far as to explain exactly what happened to her or where she’s been, but we do know one thing: A woman named Sahar wants her dead, and for some reason, she’s now after Gibbs too.

These NCIS Photos Will Have You Worried for Ziva

All of this info gets dropped on Gibbs after he’s sustained what look like some pretty serious blows as he and Ziva go on the run together. Meanwhile, back at the office, everyone else is flabbergasted to find out the woman they all thought long gone isn’t actually dead after all. In unrelated new, please tattoo, “Ziva David is freakin’ alive?!” directly on our foreheads, thanks.

Of everyone, McGee (Sean Murray) seems most distressed by the news that Ziva has been alive all this time, considering how close they’d grown over the years working together. Here’s hoping the four episodes Cote de Pablo will appear in this season give him ample time to make peace with that deception.

NCIS will return Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on CBS.
